Several members of the Newport News Sheriff’s Office donned aprons and gloves to serve lunch at the Yuletide Greetings luncheon.
More than 150 men and women, age 50 and over, enjoyed a holiday lunch of turkey and all the trimmings and pumpkin pie for dessert, served up by the NNSO and Newport News police personnel. As the food was prepared, the guests enjoyed a fashion show and live music. They also were treated to a visit by Santa and Mrs. Claus.
This free annual event was hosted by the Active Lifestyles Program of Newport News Parks, Recreation and Tourism Department. It was a nice break from our daily routine, and we enjoyed meeting these young-at-heart citizens.
