Supporting Virginia’s Sheriffs & Deputies

On Sunday, April 27, 2025, members of the Richmond City Sheriff’s Office joined community members and fellow law enforcement agencies at the Science Museum of Virginia for the annual JP JumPers Foundation Autism Trail Ride Festival. Sheriff Antionette Irving and more than 20 deputies and staff proudly showed their support for an inspiring cause focused on inclusion, awareness, and community connection.

The event, hosted by the JP JumPers Foundation, celebrates individuals with special needs and promotes greater understanding and visibility for the community. With a mission to recognize the special needs community as a community, the Foundation offers free events and vital resources to families across the Richmond Tri-Cities area.

The JP JumPers Foundation was created by Pam Mines in honor of her son, JP, who was diagnosed with autism at age 2. What began in 2007 as a six-member autism walk team grew into a movement of more than 200 walkers by 2014 and later, a full-fledged nonprofit organization dedicated to advocacy, service, and support. Since its incorporation in 2013, the Foundation has expanded its efforts to include voter registration drives, community service projects, and inclusive celebrations like the Trail Ride Festival. With a powerful motto of “Jump In,” the Foundation encourages everyone to be part of meaningful change.
