Supporting Virginia’s Sheriffs & Deputies

This year marked the 16th annual Shenandoah County Sheriff’s Office Youth Leadership Camp, a program designed to build confidence, leadership, and teamwork in rising middle school students across the county. Ten students from each Shenandoah County Public Schools middle school were selected to participate in the weeklong overnight camp held at Shrine Mont.

Throughout the five-day camp, students took part in a variety of hands-on activities and demonstrations led by several of the Sheriff’s Office specialty teams, including the TAC Team, Search and Rescue, and Criminal Investigations Division. With the guidance and support of our School Resource Officers, campers engaged in team-building exercises and leadership lessons that emphasized communication, attention to detail, and adaptability.

It’s always incredible to watch the transformation—from quiet introductions on Sunday to lifelong friendships by Friday. This camp not only gives students a chance to grow, but also to connect with peers from other schools, forming bonds that may not have otherwise been possible.
