On Sunday, September 21st, the Arlington County Sheriff’s Office brought together our public safety partners, local soccer coaches, and the community for our 2nd Annual Sheriff’s Soccer Game at Wakefield High School. This unique, free event pitted Arlington’s first responders – including sheriff deputies, police officers, and fire personnel – against Arlington Soccer Association coaches in a spirited and entertaining matchup. Fans were treated to plenty of soccer action, energy, and fun as players showcased their skills before a crowd of friends, families, and neighbors. The game not only highlighted the athleticism of our first responders but also underscored the teamwork and strong relationships that make our community thrive both on and off the field.
Last year, Arlington Soccer’s coaches secured the win. But this year, Arlington first responders were ready – holding the coaches to a thrilling 3–3 tie! The competitive yet friendly outcome embodied the true spirit of the game: building camaraderie, celebrating community pride, and strengthening connections with those we serve. “This game is about more than soccer, it’s about showing the community that when we work together, whether on the field or in service, we’re stronger as one,” said Arlington County Sheriff Jose Quiroz. “I’m proud of these public safety partners and grateful to Arlington Soccer Association for making this event a tradition that unites us all.”
The Arlington Sheriff’s Office is proud to continue this tradition and looks forward to growing the event in years to come.
